The River in the City symposium co-sponsored by SCI-Arc, Mayor Tom Bradley's office and the Friends of the Los Angeles River concludes with Lewis MacAdams arguing that it's not too late to transform the Los Angeles River from a symbol of what mankind has destroyed to a symbol of what mankind can restore. Enormous political, environmental and economic challenges remain, but the first step has been accomplished: planting the idea that L.A. has a living river.
