Marcelyn Gow introduces Catherine Johnson and Rebecca Rudolph of Design, Bitches whose work she characterizes as an exploration of “inspiration, collaboration, connecting with community and clients, and how material and spatial experimentation can contribute to the meaning a place has for us, and our emotional connection to it”.
Johnson and Rudolph describe their practice as lifting boundaries between disciplines to find “places where interesting overlaps inspire us to tweak the rules”. They offer axioms for their work:
•Outside can be inside
•Architecture is performance
•Graphics are spatial
•Pragmatism can be rebellious
