After congratulating the Class of 2019, and welcoming their families, friends and guests, Hernan Diaz Alonso presents an honorary degree to Frank O. Gehry.

After an introduction by Diaz Alonso, commencement speaker Barbara Bestor, challenges graduates to (1) build things, (2) take risks, and (3) “never forget your power to make lives better.” Adding, “Whether you stay in L.A. or go, you are all West Coast architects; you are part of this great living tradition of experimentation and innovation.
