Waqidi Falicoff (March 27, 1985) Part 1 of 201:03:05

Waqidi Falicoff discusses his sun shade design using heat sensitive panels. He shows a clip from the BBC’s Tomorrow's World demonstrating the technology. He describes how Lambert Gibbs requested him to create panels for a large domed conference hall near Heathrow.

Falicoff discusses the experiments and prototypes leading to the thermochromic technology. He explains problems regarding building codes, sound constraints, and material concerns. Original prototypes worked very well, but were not approved by the architect due to their dark yellow or brown coloring.

Falicoff demonstrates the thermochromatic technology using a hairdryer to instigate the temperature change. He answers questions from the audience regarding the chemicals and materials used in the product.
