Text & textures of urban memory (March 18, 1988) Part 3 of 326:51

Emily Apter, Ann Bergren, Kurt Forster, Anthony Vidler, and moderator Aaron Betsky discuss the parallels between architectural and literary criticism. Forster, whose perspective differ from the other panelists explains he has tried not to reduce the city to textual analogies and suggests that his comments on maps and memory “are suggestive of non- textual relationships.” He and Ann Bergren discuss ways in which a map of a city is not a text.
