Fire in the Library: Erika Rothenberg, Coy Howard, Robert Irwin, Annie Chu (October 24, 1996) 2 of 232:42

The Fire in the Library guests respond to questions from the audience. Robert Irwin and Erika Rothenberg discuss the frustrations of trying to work in a way that involves the public. Coy Howard responds to a comment about collaboration, arguing for “maximizing experience.” Responding to a comment from the audience, Robert Irwin, Annie Chu, and Ericka Rothenberg debate the role of architects and artists in projects created and defined by exclusively economic considerations. Irwin argues that somebody has to make the “quality argument” in a form intelligible to “the quantifiers.”
