In the last 11 minutes of his lecture, Will Bruder discribes the lighting concepts for the interior of his Phoenix Central Library Project. Each column in the space supports a tensegrity roof structure and is topped by a PVB coated skylight which floods the space with blue light. Each of the skylights has a small clear oculus which directs a small beam of light to the center of the top of each column for forty seconds on the summer solstice. Agreeing with Louis I. Kahn, Bruder states that architecture is about light and that it gives power to spaces.
