Paul Nakazawa reviews a previous discussion of general frameworks of architectural practice, and how their basis has changed from craft to systems. He defines contemporary practice in terms of four domains: strategy, design, content and delivery, and proposes to examine in detail each of their combinations. He discusses strategy and content as investigating assumptions, and team-building, strategy and design as the ability to frame issues and make assumptions explicit, content and design as co-creative partnerships, strategy and delivery as a variety of methodologies, design and delivery as the area of practice that has been most commodified, but remains essential, and content and delivery as continuous communication. Nakazawa concludes by responding to audience questions about risk, negotiation, competitions, and effectively communicating who you are as a designer.
