Jen Stark: Art, science & the cosmos (January 15, 2014)41:41

Jen Stark discusses several stacked paper sculptures and installations in terms of her interest in mathematical patterns such as the Fibonacci sequence. Focusing on her work of the last few years, she stresses infinitely self-similar fractal patterns, such as the Koch snowflake, and the Mandelbrot set, and self-similar artwork by Salvador Dalí, M. C. Escher, Alex Grey, and patterns of Islamic art and mandala paintings. She concludes with two stop-motion animations: Papernation (2007) and Believer (2011)
