After Hernán Díaz Alonso’s introduction, Alper Derinboğaz describes the work of his office in terms of “Geospaces” (also the title of his 2022 book), in the sense of finding ones way through today’s complexities. He notes that, construction is responsible for about 40% of the total global carbon footprint, but only 13% of global spending, while architecture accounts for only 2.8% of the global economy.
